The “Lord’s House”, in the centre of Samokov town (just outside Borovets), has been put on the market. This 350 year old property of 260 m2 is in the Register of Buildings of National Importance and was saved from demolition some years ago by its present owner, a millionaire foreigner.

Elina Tacheva, of Skipropertybg.com, explains, “When the Englishman first saw the house, it was in a sorry state, and others wanted to knock it down. But he saw that the property was mostly undamaged inside and knew it was worth saving.”

Sine then, he has spent a small fortune completely renovating the property, using traditional building techniques, and converted the stables into a second, modern living room and an outhouse into a sauna. The property is full of ancient carved wooden ceilings and is now in excellent condition, ready to survive some more hundreds of years.

The owner has stayed only 2 nights in the property over the past 4 years, preferring to spend time in the other holiday homes he has and thinks it’s time to hand the property over to somebody else who will get more enjoyment from it.
